Title Madi Mojdeh Makes Waves NCAA Rookie of the Year Closes Out Debut Season in Style

The 2022-2023 NCAA swimming season will be remembered as a historic one, thanks in large part to College of Saint Benilde-La Salle Greenhills' Behrouz Mohammad Madi Mojdeh. The 14-year-old Filipino-Iranian phenom capped off an unforgettable debut campaign by claiming the prestigious Rookie of the Year award.

Mojdeh's remarkable journey to the top began with a bang, as he racked up an impressive five medals – four silvers and one bronze – in the country's oldest collegiate league. The young swimmer from Behrouz Elite Swimming Team left a lasting impression on fans and opponents alike, showcasing his incredible talent and work ethic.

As the season drew to a close, Mojdeh delivered yet another masterclass performance, taking home two more silver medals on the final day of competition at the Rizal Memorial Swimming Pool in Malate, Manila. In the boys' 200m backstroke event, he clocked an impressive 220.40, narrowly missing out on gold to teammate Jamesray Ajido's 214.45.

Mojdeh then added another silver medal to his collection, crossing the finish line in a blistering 213.01 in the boys' 200m butterfly event. San Beda University's Shiblon Montera took top honors with a time of 209.25.

The talented teenager also earned silvers in the 1500m freestyle (1756.47) and 800m freestyle (918.67), as well as a bronze medal in the 200m breaststroke (231.96).

When asked about his incredible debut season, Mojdeh beamed with pride, saying, I'm thrilled to have achieved my goals. Getting personal best times in some events is an added bonus! I'm really satisfied with my performance and I'm excited to take my game to the next level next season.

Mojdeh's success was not just about individual achievements, however. His performances played a crucial role in CSB-La Salle Greenhills' overall championship title win in the juniors division.

I owe it all to my amazing coaches and parents who have been my rock, guiding and supporting me every step of the way, Mojdeh said, expressing his gratitude to his team and family. Competing at this level is truly an honor.

Proud mom Joan Mojdeh couldn't help but beam with pride as she saw her son Madi's hard work and dedication pay off. Congratulations, kuya Madi! More than improving your times in all your events, your hard work and consistency really shine the most, she said.

As the NCAA swimming community looks to the future, one thing is certain – Madi Mojdeh's name will be etched in the history books as a trailblazer and inspiration to young swimmers everywhere.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
