India nightclub fire kills 25 in Goa

25 people were killed, including a police officer, and more than 100 others injured after a fire broke out at a crowded nightclub in southern India early Friday, officials said.
The blaze began around 1 a.m. at the city's Pari Casino nightclub in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh state Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy told reporters. She said the fire was caused by an electrical short-circuit and the club did not have proper emergency exits.
Reddy said that police officer died trying to save people from the fire. The injured were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, but officials say it may have started in a sound booth. Firefighters were at the scene within minutes of getting the call, and more than 100 people had already been rescued by then, authorities said.
