International Triathlon
In a remarkable display of grit and determination, Anisha Eunice Ichang C[1D[K
Caluya overcame scorching conditions and stiff competition to secure a hard[4D[K
hard-earned bronze medal in the Junior Elite Women Sprint division at the 2[1D[K
2026 Subic Bay International Triathlon.
A Fearless Charge
Caluya's journey began long before she stepped onto the podium. Weeks of in[2D[K
intense training paid off as she mastered both the course and the climate, [K
developing the mental toughness needed to overcome fatigue and push through[7D[K
through the final stretch.
I came into this just hoping for a top-five finish... knowing my competito[9D[K
competitors were stronger and more experienced, Caluya said, her voice fil[3D[K
filled with humility. But hope quickly turned into belief.
From Hope to Belief
As she powered through the 750-meter open-water swim, the punishing 20-kilo[7D[K
20-kilometer bike ride, and the decisive 5-kilometer run under intense heat[4D[K
heat, Caluya's determination never wavered. Her fearless charge carried her[3D[K
her onto the podium, where she stood tall as the Philippines' lone medalist[8D[K
medalist.

proved that sometimes, the goals you set aren't the limits of what you can [K
achieve. For Caluya, this breakthrough marked just the beginning of her tri[3D[K
triathlon journey.
I'm not done yet, she said with a smile. The work continues. For the cou[3D[K
country, I will give my all.
Behind the Breakthrough
As a Manufacturing and Robotics Engineering student at De La Salle Universi[8D[K
University, Caluya's academic pursuits didn't slow down her athletic ambiti[6D[K
ambitions. Her support system – including her mother, Mae Caluya – played a[1D[K
a crucial role in shaping her values of determination and discipline.
This is a reminder that we're raising her to be determined and disciplined[11D[K
disciplined, said Mae Caluya. Beyond the medal, it's the values that trul[4D[K
truly matter.
The Road Ahead
With upcoming events like the National Aquathlon on Sunday at the Amoranto [K
Sports Complex in Quezon City and the Asia Triathlon Junior Elite Cup in Ka[2D[K
Kampar, Malaysia in June, Caluya has her sights set on further success. As [K
she looks to the future, one thing is clear Ichang Caluya is a force to be[2D[K
be reckoned with.
