This incident has sparked concerns about the safety of Taiwan's military training jets, which are used by pilots to hone their skills for combat missions.

The Brave Eagle is a relatively new addition to Taiwan's arsenal, having had its first test flight in 2020. However, it remains unclear what caused the dual engine failure that led to the crash. This uncertainty has raised questions about the reliability of Taiwanese-made defense equipment, which has been upgraded in recent years as part of efforts to bolster the country's security capabilities.

Taiwan relies heavily on US arms sales to supplement its domestic defense industry, but it is seeking to increase its independence and reduce its reliance on foreign military aid. In related news, Taiwan recently temporarily grounded its fleet of Mirage 2000 fighters for safety checks after a jet crashed into the sea in September.

The crash has also sparked concerns about the military's ability to respond to threats from China, which has increased its incursions into Taiwanese airspace in recent years.
