Behind the Scenes Bicol Leaders Honor Lagman's Legacy

The nation is still reeling from the loss of veteran lawmaker Edcel Lagman. As a tribute to his life's work and legacy, leaders from the Bicol region have come together to honor his memory. In this behind-the-scenes look, we delve into the events that unfolded as Bicolano leaders paid their respects to Lagman.

A Dedication to Public Service

Lagman's passing has left a profound impact on many, including former Vice President Leni Robredo, who shared her personal experiences of seeking guidance from him. Mourning the death of Cong. Edcel Lagman... My fondness for him was very personal. When I was vice president, I sought his counsel and advice, she posted on Facebook.

Leadership and Legacy

Albay Acting Gov. Glenda Ong-Bongao ordered all offices in the province to fly the Philippine flag at half-staff as a mark of respect for Lagman. Former Albay governor Al Francis Bichara also paid tribute, saying, Rest in peace, Manoy Edcel. You dedicated your life to serving our community, and you will be deeply missed.

Shaping a New Generation of Leaders

Lagman's legacy extends far beyond his own service to the region. He is recognized for shaping a new generation of politicians in the First District of Albay, including Rep. Gil Bongalon, Ong-Bongao, and her son, lawyer John Gio Ong Bongao, city councilor of Tabaco City.

A Life Well-Lived

As leaders from across the region pay tribute to Lagman's memory, his family requests that donations be made in his name for the restoration and repair of St. John the Baptist Parish Church in Tabaco City, a national cultural treasure declared in 2001. This blog post provides a glimpse into the events that unfolded as Bicolano leaders honored Lagman's legacy.
