President Donald Trump has unveiled plans for a massive new White House bal
ballroom that will feature an underground military hospital and a “dr
“drone empire” on the roof.

During a recent tour of the s
site, Trump shouted over the noise of construction equipment as he outlined
outlined the features of the project, which has doubled in price to $400 mi
million.

Critics have suggested that the ballroom shows that billiona
billionaire Trump is out of touch with voters, especially as Iran's war con
continues to cause skyrocketing prices. However, Trump appeared at ease thr
throughout the tour.

“This is a gift to the United States of Am
America,” said Trump, standing by the yellow railings on the edge of 
an expansive basement space. “This is all my money and donors’ 
money. This is tax-free.”

Democrats have opposed a proposed $1-
$1-billion security allocation tied to Trump’s ballroom and are using
using it as an attack against Republicans ahead of crucial midterm election
elections in November.

The 79-year-old president used the tour to def
defend the ballroom, stating that it was necessary for national security.</

Trump went into great detail about what he said were six st
stories of installations beneath the ballroom itself. “These are all
all different rooms down here. They’re building a hospital, it’
it’s a military hospital. They’re building all sorts of researc
research facilities also meeting rooms, and rooms that go hand in hand for 
the military,” said Trump.

“The ballroom becomes a shield
shield that will totally protect what’s going on downstairs,” h

The president stated that the roof of the ballroom was &ldqu
“drone-proof” and that drones would “bounce off”. 
“But it’s also meant as a drone port,” he said.

The property developer in Trump was also on full di
display as he discussed how ancient Greek and Roman architecture had influe
influenced the building. He then offered reporters breakfast.

Trump 
has stated repeatedly that the ballroom is being met by private donors, inc
including his wealthy supporters and a slew of corporations.

Critics 
have suggested that taxpayers will be hit by this project, along with other
other refurbishments to the US capital. They also suggest it's tone-deaf at
at a time when Iran war has caused the cost of living to spike.

Trump bluntly stated last week that “I don’t think
think about Americans’ financial situation” when it comes to th
the Iranian war. He insists that preventing Tehran from getting a nuclear 
weapon is his priority.

The ballroom also faces legal challenges after a federal 
judge ruled in April that it needs congressional approval to be built.

The project has already seen the historic East Wing of the Whi
White House torn down with almost no notice. The offices of the first lady
lady were previously housed there.

Trump states that the ballroom is 
needed to host grand banquets for foreign leaders, although it wouldn't fin
finish until long after his term in office ends in 2029.
