Life or death consequences for millions NGOs shocked by US aid freeze

On January 24, four days after President Trump returned to power, NGOs linked to the US Agency for International Development (USAID) received letters asking them to cease all activities funded by the agency.

The new administration has launched stinging attacks on USAID -- which Trump claimed was run by radical lunatics and his ally and advisor, the world's richest person Elon Musk, described as a criminal organisation.
These moves have left non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and civil society groups in shock. They say the consequences of freezing US aid could be life-threatening for millions of people around the world.

USAID is one of the most powerful agencies tasked with combating global poverty and promoting human rights, democracy and freedom of expression. It provides humanitarian assistance to refugees fleeing conflict zones, supplies clean water in developing countries and helps small businesses grow in emerging economies.

But under President Trump's tenure, USAID has been repeatedly attacked by his administration for wasting taxpayer dollars and supporting radical causes around the world. These accusations were further amplified last week after Musk took control of Twitter and began purging alleged liberal biases from its platform.

As such, it is imperative that action be taken immediately to reverse these decisions before irreparable damage occurs both politically and economically across multiple continents. We must stand together united against any attempts at silencing dissenting voices or infringing upon individual liberties guaranteed under law. Only then can we ensure a brighter future for all mankind regardless of background or creed.
