The Ultimate Guide to UE, UST A Season 87 Preview Amidst Offseason Challenges

As we approach the start of UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tournament, two teams that have faced significant offseason challenges are gearing up for what promises to be a tough road ahead. The UE Lady Warriors and the UST Golden Tigresses are struggling to come to terms with player drain and injuries that have left them depleted.

UE's Difficult Start

The Lady Warriors' season has gotten off to a rocky start, courtesy of a series of departures from their roster. The exodus began when coach Obet Vital left the program in December 2022, citing differences in vision for the team. This sudden departure had a ripple effect, leading to the exit of several key players, including Casiey Dongallo, Kizzie Madriaga, Jelai Gajero, and Jenalyn Umayam, who joined Vital at UP as assistant coaches.

The talent drain continued when Shamel Fernandez, Yesha Rojo, and Claire Castillo also left the program. Fernandez joined her former California Academy teammates at UP, while Rojo and Castillo transferred to College of Saint Benilde in the NCAA.

UST's Injury Concerns

While UST did not experience a significant exodus of players, they do face injury concerns that will impact their performance this season. Spikers Jonna Perdido and Xyza Gula are sidelined due to an ACL left tear and a displaced tailbone fracture, respectively. These injuries come at a critical time for the Tigresses, who relied heavily on Perdido and Gula in scoring when Angge Poyos was resting last season.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on the offseason challenges faced by UE and UST, it's clear that both teams have had to adapt to significant changes. While rumination is natural, these two teams must now focus on what they can do better in the future. With determination and resilience, they can overcome their current predicaments and make a strong showing in Season 87.

Conclusion

The road ahead for UE and UST will be challenging, but it's not impossible. As we look to the future, let us draw inspiration from their determination to succeed. Despite the obstacles they face, these two teams have the potential to achieve great things in Season 87.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
