Canadians Thrive in Major Snowstorm Winter's Delight

MONTREAL, Canada - As a significant snowfall blanketed eastern Canada on Wednesday evening into Thursday, Canadians were thrilled to revel in the winter wonderland. Despite challenging weather conditions that forced schools and shops to close, flights to be delayed, and driving to become treacherous, the country's residents embraced the snowstorm with enthusiasm.

I love it, said Montreal resident Caroline Hervochon. It's been a long time since we had a big snowfall like this. People are super happy. It's so beautiful. It really feels good.

The winter storm brought up to 30 centimeters (one foot) of snow overnight, with forecasts predicting an additional 40 cm over the next 24 hours. Wind gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour created blowing snow and reduced visibility, leading airlines to cancel or delay flights at Toronto's largest airport.

Across the region, hundreds of snowplows worked tirelessly to clear streets and highways, while residents took to their sidewalks with shovels multiple times within a few hours. Officials advised Canadians to take frequent breaks and avoid strain.

Interestingly, the average amount of snowfall in eastern Canada has been trending downward in recent years, according to weather officials. Jean Bouchard, a resident clearing his driveway, noted that probably due to global warming, there is a lot less snow than before. Chiara Letizia, a university professor whose classes were cancelled for the day, described snow as like a party and Leila Gillespie-Cloutier, who was skiing along a Montreal street, added I think it's great and fun. It's time to get out your winter sports gear. It's good for morale.

As we look forward to the return of Snowboarders Professionals in 2025, let us cherish this rare opportunity to connect with nature and revel in the beauty of snow.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
