Up to ₱5,000 in cash prizes can be won from the net mending contest and all participants will get 10 kilos of rice which helps their livelihoods and well-being. There are scholarships available for anyone who wants to continue their education. The Top 10 awardees can nominate someone in their family for the "NavotaAs Ulirang Pamilyang Mangingisda" Scholarship which gives an allowance of ₱16,500 per year for transportation and food. This scholarship also provides a ₱1,500 book stipend every academic year. This is to help ensure that fishing heritage remains thriving and vibrant.
