The Purrfectly Shocking Truth
A NonSequitur into the World
of Feline CuisineAs I sat down
to write this blog post I
couldnt help but think about
the utter absurdity of the
following statistic every year
nearly four million cats are
eaten in Asia Yes you read
that correctly cats As pets
As beloved companions As
dinnerNow I know what youre
thinking But wait isnt eating
cats a cultural thing And to
that I say yes and no While
its true that feline
consumption is more common in
certain Asian cultures hello
Korea and China the sheer
scale of this phenomenon still
feels like a non sequitur a
completely unexpected and
unrelated factoidI mean think
about it cats are our furry
friends our snuggle buddies
our stressrelief experts We
lavish them with affection
provide them with cozy homes
and fill their food dishes to
the brim And yet in some parts
of Asia these very same
animals are being served up as
a delicacyNow Im not here to
judge or condemn the cultural
practices of others thats for
the rest of you to do What I
am saying is that on the
surface this fact seems like a
jarring juxtaposition a non
sequitur if there ever was one
How can we reconcile our love
and admiration for cats with
their mass consumption in
certain societiesAs I delve
deeper into this topic Ill be
exploring some of the cultural
and historical contexts
surrounding feline cuisine But
for now lets just agree that
this fact is well quite a
shock to the systemStay tuned
for my next post where well
dive deeper into the world of
feline gastronomyPS If youre
thinking about trying cat meat
yes its a thing please do some
research and consider the
ethics involved

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
