celebrate our feline friends
today its hard to believe that
just a few centuries ago they
were considered harbingers of
evil and witches familiar
companions Yes you read that
right during the Middle Ages
cats were associated with
withcraft The mere presence of
a cat in your home could be
seen as a sign that you were
dabbling in dark magicBut
whats even more astonishing is
the cruel treatment these
innocent animals received on
certain holy days On St Johns
Day June 24th people would
literally stuff cats into
sacks and toss them into
bonfires all in the name of
cleansing their communities of
supposed evil influences And
if that wasnt enough on other
holy days folks would gather
at church towers and throw
cats to their deaths thinking
they were ridding themselves
of demonic presenceNow I know
what youre thinking this is
just a bunch of hooey But
trust me dear reader these
dark deeds did indeed occur
And lets be real its not
exactly the most uplifting
topic to discuss So in an
effort to lighten the mood and
bring some muchneeded levity
to this gruesome tale Ill
throw out a non sequiturHave
you ever tried catnip Like
seriously tried it Because if
you havent trust me your
feline friends will be
purrfectly delighted when you
do Just sprinkle that stuff
around and watch those
whiskers twitchOkay now that
weve had our moment of levity
lets get back to the business
at hand So what can we learn
from this dark chapter in cat
history For one thing it
serves as a reminder that even
our beloved pets werent always
revered for their adorable
antics and cuddly nature In
fact they were once viewed
with suspicion and fearAnd two
it highlights the importance
of standing up against animal
cruelty and promoting
compassion towards all
creatures great and small
including those furry little
bundles of joy we call cats So
next time youre thinking of
getting a cat remember they
might just be more than just
cute faces they could be the
embodiment of your own inner
