The Art of Stalking A Feline
PerspectiveAs I watched my
feline friend stalk her prey I
couldnt help but notice the
precision and stealth that
went into every movement Her
head remained level eyes fixed
intently on the unsuspecting
critter as she crept closer
tail twitching with
excitementIt got me thinking
about the differences between
our feline friends and those
of us who are not cats Dogs
for instance often bob their
heads up and down when theyre
excited or trying to
communicate And humans Well we
tend to do a lot of nodding
and headbobbing too But whats
behind these distinct
behaviorsIn the case of our
feline friends it seems that
keeping their head level is a
key aspect of successful
hunting When a cat chases its
prey it needs to maintain a
steady gaze in order to track
its quarry and stay focused on
the task at hand This
levelheaded approach allows
them to pounce with precision
and catch their prey off
guardBut what about dogs Those
enthusiastic headbobs are
actually a sign of excitement
and engagement Dogs use their
heads to convey emotions much
like humans do with our facial
expressions When a dog sees
its favorite toy or human its
natural for them to bob their
head up and down in
anticipation or joy Its almost
as if theyre saying Oh boy oh
boy Im so excitedAnd then
there are us humans We nod and
bob our heads for all sorts of
reasons to show agreement to
ask questions or simply to
express enthusiasm Sometimes
we do it without even
realizing it like when were on
the phone or in a meeting
Other times its a deliberate
choice like when were trying
to get someones attentionBut I
have to say theres something
quite livid about watching a
cat stalk its prey with such
precision and stealth Its as
if theyre completely focused
on their mission leaving no
room for distraction or error
When my feline friend finally
pounces and catches her quarry
its like a work of art in
motionSo the next time you see
a cat stalking its prey take
note of its level head and
steady gaze And when you see a
dog bobbing its head up and
down remember that its just
expressing excitement and joy
And as for us humans Well
maybe we can learn a thing or
two from our feline friends
about staying focused and
preciseAfter all theres no
need to be livid when the art
of stalking is so finely tuned

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
