Taiwan has grounded its F-16V fighter jets after a crash involving one of them during training exercises on Wednesday.

The two-seat training version of the aircraft is used for military pilots training with the Taiwanese Air Force. According to the statement released by the Ministry of National Defense, the aircraft was conducting routine training when it crashed in an uninhabited area near Tainan City. Both pilots ejected from the plane safely and were taken to a hospital for evaluation.

The statement did not give any information on what might have caused the crash. However, according to Reuters, the jets are part of a modernization program begun by Taiwan's previous administration and is intended to help ensure that Taiwan has the military capabilities necessary to defend itself against threats from its larger neighbor China.

The Taiwanese Air Force currently operates about 145 F-16 fighter planes in various variants, all of which have undergone upgrades as part of their modernization. The accident did not affect any other aircraft or personnel during training exercises at Hualian air base.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
