In a move aimed at enhancing ties between the two nations, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet recently witnessed the signing of various agreements aimed at fostering cooperation in key areas such as trade and investment, agriculture, education, tourism, and communications.

The signed agreements included

The Agreement on the Elimination of Double Taxation, which reduces tax burdens for investors from both countries to encourage more bilateral investments.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Implementation of Competition Law, designed to boost inbound investments and promote a business-friendly environment.
The MOU on Agricultural and Agribusiness Cooperation, covering agricultural planning and further enhancing international trade and agribusiness investments between the two countries.

President Marcos highlighted Cambodia's renewed commitments to defense cooperation, the prevention of looting, and the illicit trafficking of cultural properties. He expressed confidence that through this engagement, more Filipinos will invest in Cambodia, and more Cambodians will invest in the Philippines.

The agreements also encompassed collaboration on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and government digital transformation through exchanges of expertise and training. Both countries welcomed these initiatives, which are expected to foster greater understanding and cooperation between their respective private sectors.
