The South African government says it's trying to protect the country's fishing industry by intercepting Chinese fishing vessels that are fishing illegally in their waters.

The action comes after an international tribunal ruled that South Africa has the right to regulate the fishing activities in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). This ruling was made following a complaint from South Africa and the European Union against China's behavior, which has been deemed illegal.

In response, China claims that they are not violating any international laws by fishing in these waters. They have also sent a ship to monitor the situation and prevent any interference from South Africa.
