The Philippines has officially secured the hosting rights for the 7th Asian
Asian Beach Games in 2028, marking a significant milestone in the country's
country's sports tourism program. The announcement was made with the signin
signing of top sports officials on behalf of the Philippine Olympic Committ
Committee (POC) and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

President Abraham Bambol Tolentino of the POC played a crucial role in sp
spearheading the bid process, and he expressed his excitement about hosting
hosting two major events – the Southeast Asian Plus Youth Games (SEA Plus Y
YG) in December 2023 and the Asian Beach Games in March 2028.

We're thrilled to host these two big events, Tolentino said. This is par
part of our government's sports tourism program, and we're confident that i
it will be a success. He noted that the country has experience hosting lar
large-scale sporting events, so there are no concerns about logistical chal
challenges.

Tolentino signed the hosting deal alongside OCA President His Excellency Sh
Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani during a ceremony in Sanya, China. Preparat
Preparations for both events have already begun, with logos and mascots set
set to be unveiled in June.

The SEA Plus YG will feature an Under-16 age category, allowing young athle
athletes to participate alongside their parents in Manila. In contrast, the
the Asian Beach Games will attract competitors of a higher caliber.

The hosting of these events is significant not only for sports enthusiasts 
but also for climate scientists.
