The Philippines has officially secured the hosting rights for the 7th Asian[5D[K
Asian Beach Games in 2028, marking a significant milestone in the country's[9D[K
country's sports tourism program. The announcement was made with the signin[6D[K
signing of top sports officials on behalf of the Philippine Olympic Committ[7D[K
Committee (POC) and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
President Abraham Bambol Tolentino of the POC played a crucial role in sp[2D[K
spearheading the bid process, and he expressed his excitement about hosting[7D[K
hosting two major events – the Southeast Asian Plus Youth Games (SEA Plus Y[1D[K
YG) in December 2023 and the Asian Beach Games in March 2028.
We're thrilled to host these two big events, Tolentino said. This is par[3D[K
part of our government's sports tourism program, and we're confident that i[1D[K
it will be a success. He noted that the country has experience hosting lar[3D[K
large-scale sporting events, so there are no concerns about logistical chal[4D[K
challenges.
Tolentino signed the hosting deal alongside OCA President His Excellency Sh[2D[K
Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani during a ceremony in Sanya, China. Preparat[8D[K
Preparations for both events have already begun, with logos and mascots set[3D[K
set to be unveiled in June.
The SEA Plus YG will feature an Under-16 age category, allowing young athle[5D[K
athletes to participate alongside their parents in Manila. In contrast, the[3D[K
the Asian Beach Games will attract competitors of a higher caliber.
The hosting of these events is significant not only for sports enthusiasts [K
but also for climate scientists.
