Title PH Curling Team Set to Receive Cash Incentives for Historic Gold Win at Asian Winter Games

The Philippine men's curling team has made history by winning gold at the Asian Winter Games, and their achievement will be rewarded with a significant cash incentive from the government. According to the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act, each member of the gold-winning team is entitled to receive P500,000 in incentives.

The law stipulates that for national teams with five or more participants, each member shall receive 25% of the cash incentives for individual medal winners. With a total prize purse of P2 million at the Asian Winter Games, each member of the PH curling team will receive P500,000 in incentives.

Led by coach Jessica Pfister, the six-man team comprising Alan Frei, Enrico Pfister, Christian Haller, Marc Pfister, Benjo Delarmente, and coach Jessica Pfister herself defeated South Korea 5-3 in the final to claim the gold medal. This historic win marks a significant milestone for the Philippines, representing its first podium finish at the Asian Winter Games.

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) is thrilled with the team's breakthrough performance, hailing it as a sign of greater things to come for the country's ice sports program. We strongly believe that this achievement is just the beginning of our historic rise on ice for the Philippines, said PSC Chairman Richard Bachmann.

The win has also paved the way for the PH curling team to compete in the Winter Olympics, with Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham 'Bambol' Tolentino expressing optimism about their chances. This is too good to be true. It's shocking, and now the path is clearer toward our first medal in the Winter Olympics, he said.

The team's victory has sent shockwaves through the sporting community, with many hailing it as a turning point for Philippine ice sports. As the country looks to build on this momentum, fans and sponsors alike are eagerly anticipating what lies ahead for the PH curling team.
