Pampering Success POC's $5,000 Incentives for Philippine Curling Team
The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) has rewarded each member of the country's men's curling team with a cash incentive of $5,000 in recognition of their outstanding performance at the 9th Asian Games.
Prior to their departure from the Philippines on Monday, POC President Abraham Bambol Tolentino hosted a pre-flight lunch at the New World Hotel in Makati City, where each team member received the incentive from the POC Executive Board. This gesture showcased the committee's appreciation for the team's dedication and hard work.
Tolentino emphasized that while the incentive was not meant to parallel their personal expenses or the value of their achievement, it was a small way for the POC to express its gratitude to the team. The path to Milano Cortina has become clearer, and we're focused on qualifying for our first Winter Olympics medal, he said.
Before competing as a fully-recognized member of the POC, the Swiss-based team made significant investments in their campaign, including funding their own participation in international events. This demonstrated their commitment to winter sports and their determination to succeed.
It's no joke funding your own participation in international events, Tolentino acknowledged the team's expenses. As they celebrate their success in Harbin, the POC is now committed to supporting the team's efforts to qualify for next year's Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
Tolentino's commitment to recognizing outstanding performances has left a lasting impression on the team and the sporting community. This move demonstrates the committee's dedication to rewarding exceptional achievements.
As the Philippine curling team continues to soar to new heights, the POC is setting its sights on even greater achievements. With Tolentino at the helm, the country can expect continued support for winter sports athletes, driving them towards success and potentially bringing home a first Winter Olympics medal.
