bid on the gem, with the winner choosing to remain anonymous. The final pri
price tag? A staggering $17.3 million – a new record for a blue-green diamo
diamond at auction.

So why is this diamond so valuable? According to Max Fawcett, global head o
of Christie's Jewelry, it's all about the color and size. A stone of this 
color and size is extremely scarce, he said. To find something in 5 carat
carats of this quality and this color is truly remarkable.
