NEW YORK (Reuters) - Louisiana has indicted a New York-based doctor accused of supplying abortion drugs to a minor in the southern U.S. state that enforces a strict ban, local media reported Friday.

The case against Dr. Cesare Santomero is expected to go before a grand jury soon, according to Louisiana's WAFB-TV station. The television station did not identify the minor who prosecutors say sought an abortion or give further details about the allegations.

Santomero could not be reached for comment, and efforts to reach him through social media accounts were unsuccessful.

The case highlights divisions on the issue of abortion following the U.S. Supreme Court's 2022 overturn of the longstanding Roe v. Wade ruling that guaranteed a woman's right to an abortion.

Santomero is one of only four doctors in the United States who have publicly declared they are willing to provide abortions in states where the procedure is illegal or restricted, according to a survey by reproductive rights group Physicians for Reproductive Health published in May.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
