Myanmar's Bid to Sell Suu Kyi Mansion Fails Again A Decade of Disputes and Neglect

For the second time, Myanmar's efforts to sell the former residence of democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi have been met with failure. The dilapidated mansion, once a symbol of hope for the country's democratic movement, remains in disrepair a decade after its initial attempt at sale.

The property, which Suu Kyi shared with her husband and children during her house arrest from 1989 to 2010, has become a focal point for controversy. In 2011, Myanmar's military government put the mansion up for auction, but the bid was unsuccessful due to concerns over its poor condition and lack of buyer interest.

A decade later, the property remains in disrepair, with reports suggesting that it is now in danger of collapse. Despite this, Myanmar's government has once again attempted to sell the property, only to have its efforts met with failure.

The Suu Kyi mansion is a poignant reminder of the country's tumultuous past and the struggles faced by those who fought for democracy. As Myanmar continues to grapple with issues of corruption and human rights abuses, the fate of this iconic property serves as a symbol of the country's ongoing challenges.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
