Louisiana senators take up new US House map while South Carolina plans for extra redistricting work

Louisiana Senate Bill Would Create New District in 2021
The bill (SB-246) would create the Northshore Parish-based district and div[3D[K
divide it into three distinct congressional districts, allowing for more eq[2D[K
equitable representation among all communities throughout Louisiana. It was[3D[K
was unanimously approved by both houses of legislation earlier this month, [K
but Governor John Bel Edwards has yet to sign off on it.
South Carolina's Extra Work
Meanwhile in South Carolina, lawmakers there have been busy working out the[3D[K
the details of their own redistricting plan for 2021 as well. They currentl[8D[K
currently expect to finalize everything before Memorial Day weekend.
