Iraqi PM-designate says Trump invited him to US once government formed

Iraqi Prime Minister-designate Ali al-Zaidi received a call from US Preside[7D[K
President Donald Trump, who congratulated him on his nomination and invited[7D[K
invited him to the US once his government is formed, his office announced T[1D[K
Thursday.

Trump's threat earlier this year to end all support to the country if front[5D[K
frontrunner Nouri al-Maliki became the next prime minister left Iraqi leade[5D[K
leaders looking elsewhere and ultimately paved the way for Zaidi's pick.

Trump extended a formal invitation to visit Washington following the forma[5D[K
formation of the government, said the PM-designate's media office's statem[6D[K
statement.

Zaidi and Trump discussed the strategic bilateral relations between Iraq a[1D[K
and the United States, and bilateral cooperation to consolidate stability[9D[K
stability in the region, it added.
