Why Nobel winner released on bail for medical treatment supporters

Iranian authorities have released Nobel peace prize-winning Narges Mohammad
Mohammadi on bail, following growing alarm over her health. Her foundation
said she has already been transferred to Tehran for medical treatment.

After 10 days of hospitalisation in Zanjan in northern Iran where she had b
been serving her sentence, Mohammadi has been granted a sentence suspensio
suspension on heavy bail, her foundation said without detailing the amount
amount.

It added that she had been transferred by ambulance to a hospital in Tehran
Tehran to be treated by her own medical team.

Her supporters had last week warned that Mohammadi, who won the 2023 prize
for her decades of campaigning for human rights in Iran, was at risk of dyi
dying on prison after suffering two suspected heart attacks behind bars in
Zanjan.

“Narges Mohammadi’s life hangs in the balance,” her Paris-based husband Tag
Taghi Rahmani said in a statement.

“While she is currently hospitalised following a catastrophic health failur
failure, a temporary transfer is not enough. Narges must never be returned
to the conditions that broke her health.” He added that she needed speciali
specialized care and added that “we must ensure she never returns to prison
prison to face the 18 years remaining on her sentence”.

Her foundation said Mohammadi required medical attention without delay and
added that We must ensure she never returns to prison to face the 18 years
years remaining on her sentence.

Her Iranian lawyer Mostafa Nili confirmed that she has been transferred to
Tehran earlier Sunday following an order halting her sentence for medical
treatment.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
