Title GP Party-list Backs P200 Wage Hike A Step Towards Fair Wages and Sustainable Livelihood

The GP (Galing sa Puso) Party-list has announced its full support for House Bill 11376, which proposes a significant P200 daily wage increase for minimum wage earners in the private sector. This landmark legislation aims to improve the quality of life for Filipino workers and foster a more sustainable livelihood.

We are committed to advocating for fair wages and sustainable livelihood, said JP Padiernos, GP Party-list's first nominee. The proposed wage hike is a crucial step towards ensuring dignity in labor and financial security for hardworking Filipinos. He emphasized that increasing wages not only acknowledges the dedication and resilience of Filipino laborers but also serves as a vital driver for economic growth.

Raising wages will have a positive impact on the Philippine economy by strengthening the purchasing power of Filipinos, ultimately benefiting businesses and industries nationwide. The data supports this urgent need according to reports from the Philippine College Foundation, an average Filipino family of five requires at least P1,160 daily and P25,226 monthly to cover basic living expenses.

Moreover, a 2024 report by the IBON Foundation found that minimum wages in over 17 regions remain insufficient to meet the essential needs of a Filipino family, despite previous wage adjustments. Ensuring a livable wage will not only uplift the well-being of workers but also foster greater productivity and loyalty in the workforce.

Our group firmly believes that a livable wage will inspire workers to be more engaged, productive, and committed, ultimately building a stronger, more resilient economy for our nation, Padiernos concluded. The proposed wage hike comes amid growing calls from labor groups, economic analysts, and advocacy organizations for more substantial wage adjustments to counteract inflation and the rising cost of living in the Philippines.

Why Fair Wages Matter

In today's challenging economic climate, it is essential to prioritize fair wages that reflect the true value of workers' contributions. By supporting House Bill 11376, we can ensure that Filipino workers receive a decent standard of living and are motivated to perform at their best.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
