Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law on Thursday that will officially change the name of the Orlando International Airport to the Donald J. Trump International Airport in honor of former President Donald Trump.

The new name is part of an effort by Florida Republicans to recognize and reward their popular party leader who was recently voted out of office, according to The Guardian. Although a majority of Floridians did not support the president during the last election, Governor DeSantis argues that since he is a resident of the state and has visited many times, Trump deserves such an honor.

Governor DeSantis said at a press conference that this was a fitting tribute to one of our greatest presidents, adding that it would be nice if other airports followed suit. He also noted that while most people recognize him as President Trump now because he was so successful during his time in office, many still call him by his original surname which is not as well-known among Americans today.

The bill passed unanimously through both chambers of the legislature before being sent to Governor DeSantis for consideration. This makes Orlando International Airport one of only two US airports with a former president's name; the other being Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Virginia.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
