After a disappointing second-round exit at the WTA 1000 Madrid Open singles
singles tournament, Filipino tennis ace Alex Eala will look to bounce back 
with a strong performance at the 125-kilogram Catalonia Open in La Bisbal d
d'Empordà, Spain.

The tournament, scheduled from April 27 to May 3, serves as a perfect warm-
warm-up for the WTA 1000 Rome Open, which takes place from May 5 to 17. Thi
This will be Eala's first 125-tournament since the inaugural Philippine Wom
Women's Open in January, where she finished in the quarterfinals.

Eala has been focusing on joining the top-tier tournaments, but her recent

Eala's recent Madrid Open exit came at the hands of No. 21 Elise Mertens, w
who defeated her in straight sets (2-6, 1-6) on Friday. At press time, Eala
Eala was still competing in the doubles side with her Turkish partner Zeyne

Their next match will be against the elite Czech-American duo of Kateřina S
Siniaková and Taylor Townsend in the round of 16 on Saturday evening. Sinia
