Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao has been emphasizing the importance of consistency to his team, and it's paid off in a big way. On Sunday night, the Elasto Painters secured their third consecutive semifinal appearance after outlasting Converge FiberXers, 2-1, in their PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup quarterfinal best-of-three series.

Deon Thompson led the charge with a conference-best performance of 34 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks. Adrian Nocum also contributed 25 points to help ROS secure a best-of-seven semifinal series against TNT.

Guiao attributes their success to the team's consistent progress. It's a testament to the progress of the team in general, he said after the game. To be in the semifinals three consecutive conferences is a remarkable achievement for an independent team like us.

The coach has been preaching patience to his young core players, including Nocum, Anton Asistio, Andrei Caracut, and Leonard Santillan. Guiao believes that if they stay committed, the door will eventually open, leading to bigger things.

Consistency is key, he emphasized. If you keep knocking on the door, it will eventually open. For me, if you hang around long enough, maybe you'll make the finals. So just hang around there, be in the thick of the fight.

Guiao is also grateful to have veteran Beau Belga on his team, who provided quality minutes and crucial three-pointers late in the game.

Belga's two huge shots in the fourth quarter sparked a 14-5 run that sealed the win for ROS. Big three-point shots by Beau Belga, Guiao praised. In Dion's absence, those were really the push we needed at that point.

Rain or Shine will face TNT once again, looking to advance to the Finals after two consecutive semifinal appearances.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
