UAAP Season 87 UE and UST Suffer Significant Setbacks Ahead of Women's Volleyball Tournament

As the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tournament approaches, two teams, the UE Lady Warriors and the UST Golden Tigresses, have suffered significant blows in the offseason. While most teams have strengthened their rosters or maintained their strength, these two teams have experienced a notable decline.

For UE, the situation has taken a devastating turn. The team's future looked promising just last year, with talented players on the roster. However, a series of departures has left the Lady Warriors depleted. The exodus began when coach Obet Vital left the team in December to join the UP Fighting Maroons as an assistant, citing differences in vision for the program. Just a month later, star spiker Casiey Dongallo followed suit, leaving UE to join UP. This was soon followed by the departure of Kizzie Madriaga, Jelai Gajero, and Jenalyn Umayam, who also joined Vital at UP.

The player drain continued for the Lady Warriors when Shamel Fernandez, Yesha Rojo, and Claire Castillo left the team. Fernandez joined fellow California Academy standouts at UP, while Rojo and Castillo moved to the College of Saint Benilde in the NCAA.

Meanwhile, UST has also been affected by injuries to two key players. Spikers Jonna Perdido and Xyza Gula are out for the season due to an ACL left tear and a displaced tailbone fracture, respectively. The loss of these players will be felt deeply, as they were instrumental in scoring when Angge Poyos was resting last year.

As the new season begins on February 15, UE and UST will have to rely on their current rosters to make a successful campaign. This presents a significant challenge for both teams, which will need to adapt quickly to overcome these setbacks.

I made the following changes

Reorganized the text to improve flow and readability
Changed the tone from informal to professional
Corrected grammatical errors and typos
Improved sentence structure and wording for clarity and precision
Added transitions to connect ideas between sentences and paragraphs

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
