The news article states that the Taliban in Pakistan has issued new threats against health workers administering polio vaccinations and threatened to kill anyone involved with the global effort to eradicate polio. The extremists view these immunizations as an attempt by the United States government, via their vaccination programs, to sterilize Muslim women or spread diseases like HIV/AIDS. As a result, healthcare workers and others associated with immunization efforts have been targeted.
