Cities, municipalities spearheading community development hailed

Cities and Municipalities Champions of Community Development

In recognition of their commitment to community development, The Manila Times honored outstanding local governments at its annual Philippine Model Cities and Municipalities award.

The event, themed Environmental Communities Cultivating the First World Economy, celebrated exemplary performances in 15 categories, including sustainability, innovation, education, and eco-friendliness. A total of 25 awards were given out to cities and municipalities that demonstrated exceptional dedication to community development.

In the top city category, Calamba, Biñan, Cabuyao, Balanga, and Baguio emerged as multiple award winners. Meanwhile, Palompon in Leyte, Taytay in Rizal, Kalibo in Aklan, Los Baños in Laguna, and Liloan in Cebu were declared the top municipality winners.

The awards ceremony not only showcased best practices but also served as a platform for government officials to reaffirm their commitment to ensuring that policies are in place to support community development. This recognition of outstanding local governments is an important step in promoting excellence in community development and inspiring other cities and municipalities to follow suit.
