The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference has been a challenging experience for Akari, particularly since the injury of star player Grethcel Soltones on January 18. According to Ivy Lacsina, the team's star player, playing without Soltones is indeed tough.

In an interview with The Manila Times, Lacsina acknowledged the significant impact that Soltones has had on the team. Her presence is big; she's a veteran and her calculated playstyle has a huge impact on our team, she said.

With Soltones sidelined due to injury, Akari has struggled to find its footing. The team's low-scoring output in their latest match against Cignal only added to the challenge, with Lacsina admitting that her game is off without Soltones' presence on the court.

Despite these challenges, Lacsina remains optimistic about the team's prospects moving forward. For sure, our morale was low, but it's all about bouncing back, she said. We need to prepare and focus on the qualification round.

The loss against Cignal marked the end of Akari's preliminary round, leaving them with a 5-6 win-loss record. However, Lacsina believes that the team can still turn things around in the qualification round. We'll continue working hard; we really need to prepare and focus on the next matches, she emphasized.

In their latest match, Faith Nisperos stood out as the only double-digit scorer with 12 points, while Fifi Sharma and Ced Domingo managed four points each. With Soltones still recovering from her injury, it remains to be seen how Akari will fare in the qualification round without their star player.

As Lacsina noted, We really need a veteran presence inside the court. Without Soltones, Akari's success in the PVL 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference will depend on its ability to adapt and find new ways to compensate for her lack of participation.
