Afghan Man Dies After ICE Custody A Tragic Incident
An Afghan man who had worked alongside U.S. military special forces in his home country passed away at a Texas hospital, one day after having been detained by immigration authorities. Mohammad Nazeer Paktyawal's family expressed disbelief and sorrow over the incident.
Paktyawal was arrested for committing fraud against SNAP on September 16th and theft on November 1st, according to ICE. He began complaining of shortness of breath and chest pains Friday night while in an ICE Dallas field office processing hold room. Medical staff performed multiple lifesaving efforts but he died at 910 am Saturday.
Deaths in ICE custody have soared during Trump's second term.
