The Importance of Boosting Your Final Four Bid Adamson's Win Over UE Sets Tone for Semifinals

As the UAAP Season 88 women's volleyball tournament approaches its climax, teams must focus on boosting their chances of making it to the Final Four. For Adamson University, a decisive 25-15, 25-18, 28-26 victory over University of the East (UE) was a crucial step in achieving this goal.

Heading into the Holy Week Break, Adamson's Lady Falcons sat at 6-4, just one game ahead of fifth-placed UST Golden Tigresses. With their win, they solidified their hold on the fourth spot and set themselves up for a strong push towards the semifinals.

In stark contrast, UE remains winless this season, slipping to 0-10 with a 24-game losing streak dating back to last season. The Lady Warriors' struggles serve as a poignant reminder of the importance of consistent performance in competitive sports like volleyball.

Adamson's head coach JP Yude attributed their victory to their ability to respond to challenges and remain composed under pressure. Every game presents its own set of challenges, he explained. What we teach our team is how to respond to those challenges effectively. It's very timely that this happened, as we simulated a high-pressure situation yesterday and executed a comeback from 20-15 down in the first six sets.

As Adamson dominated UE in the first two sets, they seemed unstoppable. However, the Lady Warriors mounted a spirited comeback in the third set, taking an 8-16 and 16-21 lead. But the Lady Falcons refused to give up, chipping away at the deficit to pull within 24-25.

In the end, it was Shaina Nitura who sealed the match with a precise cross-court attack. Her impressive performance, along with that of Frances Mordi (18 points), Fhei Sagaysay (12 excellent sets), and Abe Segui (7 points), showcased Adamson's depth and determination.

As teams look to boost their Final Four bids, they would do well to learn from Adamson's playbook. By staying focused under pressure and capitalizing on opportunities, they can set themselves up for success in the tournament's later rounds.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
