Lessons on voicing displeasure with Trump learned from Canadian protests
The world watched as U.S. President Donald Trump came to Canada in June. We saw how the people of Canada felt about him when he came for a G7 Summit. Now we are watching what Canadians are doing after Trump's recent actions.
I live in the United States, and I do not get to see all that is going on outside our borders very often. So, what lessons can Americans learn from Canadian protests?
Booing
The first lesson comes when people have had enough of someone or something and they boo them. The people at the G7 Summit seemed unhappy with Trump's decisions and his comments about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. They showed their unhappiness by booing him. Maybe we need to start doing that here in the U.S. I can think of a few politicians who might feel more comfortable if they heard boos.
Boycotting
The second lesson is learned from those who are taking action. The people of Canada have decided to boycott American products. They want Americans to know their thoughts and opinions about Trump's actions. They are using the power of their wallet to show him what he needs to do to make it right. Maybe we can learn from them, too.
What lessons will you learn?
