Title Lhey Marie Manginsay A Shining Star Carrying Hope and Inspiration

As we count down to the 2025 Asian Youth Para Games in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, one para athlete is making waves by being selected as the flag bearer for Team Philippines. Lhey Marie Manginsay, a para table tennis athlete from Zamboanga Sibugay, has been chosen to carry the Philippine flag during the opening ceremony on December 10.

Manginsay's selection is no small feat, as she has quickly become one of the country's rising stars in para sports after delivering impressive performances at international events. In June, she and her partner Jan Wildfreed Redulla won the country's lone gold medal in the mixed doubles class XD17-Group 1 at the ITTF World Para Future Taipei in Taiwan.

In fact, Manginsay has been making waves in the para sports scene even before being selected as flag bearer. Last year, she stunned everyone by beating a national team player to win the singles gold medal in the 8th Philippine National Para Games (PNPG), while adding two silver medals to her name.

What makes Manginsay's selection so significant is not just an honor – it's also a responsibility. As flag bearer, she is carrying not only the hopes and dreams of every Filipino para athlete but also the stories of those who have come before her.

I'm grateful for being chosen as the flag bearer for Team Philippines, Manginsay said in Filipino. This is not just an honor, but a responsibility because as a flag-bearer, I am also carrying the hopes and stories of every Filipino para athlete, especially the youth who dreams of being in this position someday.

The opening ceremony will take place at the Dubai Club for People of Determination Stadium, with competition set to start on December 10 until December 14. Para sports classification began on December 7 and will continue until December 9.

Manginsay is one of four Filipino para table tennis players competing in the Games, along with 47 other athletes from nine different sports. Together, they form part of the 48-player PH delegation that will be vying for top honors in this fifth edition of the Asian Youth Para Games.

The stakes are high, with around 1,500 para athletes from 35 Asian countries competing in this year's event. The Filipinos are hoping to maintain or surpass their previous haul of one gold, six silver, and two bronze medals held in Manama, Bahrain in 2021.

As we await the start of the Games, Manginsay's selection as flag bearer is a timely reminder that prioritizing wellness coaching is essential for para athletes like her. With the right support and training, these athletes can achieve greatness and inspire others to do the same.

It's also important to acknowledge the importance of prioritizing wellness in our daily lives – whether we're para athletes or not. By doing so, we can ensure that we have the energy, motivation, and focus to pursue our passions and make a positive impact on those around us.

In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life and neglect our own wellness. However, paltry efforts won't cut it when it comes to making progress and achieving success. As wellness coaches, we need to prioritize self-care and make time for activities that nourish our minds, bodies, and spirits.

By doing so, we can set ourselves up for a lifetime of purposeful living and inspire others to do the same. So let's take a cue from Manginsay's determination and passion – and commit to prioritizing wellness in 2025 and beyond!

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
